ALMATY WATER GARDEN: A NEW WORLD-CLASS DESTINATION TO BE DEVELOPED IN ALMATY
Almaty to Develop a Large-Scale Water Garden Featuring an Oceanarium, Amphitheater, and Water Canal
On the instruction of Almaty Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy, the city plans to implement the multifunctional Almaty Water Garden project.
The new destination for recreation, culture, and entertainment will occupy more than 27 hectares in the Alatau District, between Bauyrzhan Momyshuly and Sain streets. Construction is scheduled for 2026–2027.
The centerpiece of the complex will be a scenic water canal with pedestrian promenades, recreational areas, and landscaped public spaces. A modern park will be developed around the canal, creating a new landmark and attraction for both residents and visitors to Almaty.
The project includes a comprehensive mix of public, cultural, and commercial facilities. Particular emphasis is placed on developing modern retail infrastructure, with eight types of commercial spaces designed to accommodate a wide range of businesses—from retail stores and boutiques to service providers, family entertainment venues, and food and beverage establishments.
A modern food court featuring diverse culinary concepts and international cuisines will serve as one of the key attractions of the complex. Adjacent to it, an open-air amphitheater will host concerts, festivals, film screenings, cultural performances, and other public events.
The project also places strong emphasis on family recreation. Plans include the construction of a children’s entertainment center, an oceanarium, and a butterfly museum, further enhancing leisure opportunities for residents while creating new tourist attractions in Almaty.
The architectural centerpiece of Almaty Water Garden will be an observation tower offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding park.
It is worth noting that the project is being supported by Almaty Invest as part of its efforts to attract investment and facilitate the implementation of major urban development initiatives.
