Educational Hub

Almaty is the scientific and educational hub of Kazakhstan.

More than one-third of the country’s universities and research organizations are concentrated in the city. Almaty also leads in the number of residents with higher education, confirming its status as a center of knowledge and human capital.

The most in-demand fields of study in Almaty’s universities in 2025 are:
– Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction – 42,696 students;
– Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) – 9,735 students;
– Business, Management and Law – 9,069 students;
– Pedagogical Sciences – 9,071 students.

The online education market in Almaty is actively developing, particularly in higher and secondary education, supplementary courses, and auxiliary educational services.

In 2024, 18 educational facilities were built in Almaty, providing 11.7 thousand student places. In 2025, the construction of 15 additional schools with a total capacity of 27.3 thousand places was completed under the National Project “Comfortable School.”
