ALMATY INVEST EXPANDS COOPERATION WITH MALAYSIA’S SARAFIAH GROUP

Imagine an ordinary bottle of sunflower oil on a supermarket shelf. Behind this seemingly simple product lies an entire global value chain: the oil may be produced in one country, bottled in another, while the packaging is manufactured in a third. This is how the modern food industry operates today.

It was precisely this type of investment project that Almaty Invest, together with Kazakh Invest, discussed with representatives of the Malaysian company Sarafiah Group, one of the region’s major producers and international traders of agricultural products. The company is considering establishing a modern vegetable oil bottling and packaging facility in Almaty, with the potential to further expand into processing operations.

The project is export-oriented and предусматривает the construction of a state-of-the-art manufacturing complex, the localization of packaging production, and the supply of finished products to international markets.

During the meeting, the parties discussed Almaty’s investment potential, government support measures for investors, potential production sites, the city’s logistics advantages, industrial infrastructure, and the project’s implementation prospects.

Projects like this do more than attract investment—they help develop new industrial capabilities, expand exports of value-added products, and strengthen Almaty’s position as one of the region’s leading business and manufacturing hubs.
